Advanced & Resilient Structural Solutions

As constructional typologies based on prefabrication and rapid assembly, steel and composite structures are particularly attractive to inventive designers, willing to develop ever new products and improve existing ones. Our research group is involved in the development, testing and design of various kinds of innovative structural components, which show improved performance under quasi-static, dynamic and accidental loading situations. Our expertise ranges from innovative solutions for thin-gauged racking systems over aluminium in bridge applications to prefabricated composite or HPFRC (high performance fiber reinforced concrete) columns in fire or seismic scenarios. For our research, we make use of the cutting-edge equipment at ETH's "Bauhalle" in combination with advanced analytical and numerical simulation tools.
